Another Lie

Regina Puckett

Wild horses couldn’t drag me away

What is it you were going to say?

No wait, I bet it was another lie

But go ahead and give it another try

I bet this time I’ll believe the fib

After all, you tell it with such glib

The words slide from your lips

You do it without notes or scripts

All of the world should be your stage

Spin your web as you turn another page

I’ll wait while you gather your thoughts

But you should know, I’m keen to your plots

I can see you – clear though – to your soul

And know that it’s merely an empty hole

There’s nothing inside you but blackness

And your false words fill me with sadness
