Violence Refusing to be Quiet

Regina Puckett

We look over at each other

Different, but still my brother

You bleed and so do I

We each laugh and cry

But here of late

There’s too much hate

You see me and wonder

If it’s gunfire or thunder

I see you and think

Your armor has a clink

White, black, brown and red

Sadly wishing the other dead

Violence refusing to be quiet

As the streets burn with riots
