These Broken Pieces

Regina Puckett

I gather these broken pieces and run

Hoping someday I’ll once again be one

The world has cut and shattered my soul

Until there’s no part I recognize or know

So I’ll hide until I can glue myself together

Until then I won’t be able to endure the weather

If the sun would stay out long enough for me to hide

And give me time for this needed glue to have dried

Maybe then I can pretend I never fell into so many bits

And with any luck all of these puzzle fragments still fits
