Too Much to Bear

Regina Puckett

The ones I hold so dear

Often fly away and disappear

I wonder why I can’t keep them close

Why is life as fragile as a beautiful rose

I watch them leave – one by one

Like heroes riding off into the sun

But the truth is too much too much to bear

They leave – no matter how much you care

Dust to dust is what we are all in the end

Each father, each brother and each friend
