The Daylight

Regina Puckett

I close my eyes to sleep

Slow breathes and still feet

My heart open to new dreams

Welcoming flights along moonbeams

Hoping to unshoulder my trials and troubles

And replacing them with carefree bubbles

Maybe I’ll have a chance to see once again

My grandmother, father, brother and friend

Because they are sadly no longer here

And the daylight makes them disappear
